Crushed Fabric?

"This year there is a real trend for frocks for sale in shops to be made out of crushed material. I would like to know if there is a way to crush ordinary material permanently- as I really love the look but unfortunately there are only three dress material shops, in Christchurch in New Zealand, where I live and none of them are offering crushed material at this point in time. The crushed look is particulary effective with chiffons which are big here at the moment. Many thanks and I would like to say how much I enjoy this website."

Here is a pdf document regarding crushed fabric. It's just a general info document with a very vague description as to how fabric manufacturers create crushed fabric.
