Hi everybody. I am a new member of this group. I have just purchased a Singer 99k. It has been totally restored and serviced. It is beautiful. It reminds me of my Grandma who had a treadle machine. Unfortunately nobody knows what happened to it although I remember 'sewing' on it as a little girl. Anyway, my Singer is electric and not a treadle but I love it. It sews wonderfully. Does anyone know how old this model is? Cheers, Karen.

My singer 401A keeps tangleing where the bobbin is. Also the thread from the top keeps snapping. What could be wrong? What should my tension be at?? Please help! I have a lot of Christmas sewing to do! Haha

For the person who has the little machines that look like suitcases, if they are small suitcases and have a tiny machine in them, they may be a tailor's machine. Once upon a time a tailor would come to your house and take in or let out your clothing as needed or maybe make new items to fit you. These little machine cases were about the size of a briefcase and I have one of them.

I just discovered my husbands grandmother's 1906 Singer 66 Lotus treadle machine in the rafters of the garage!!! I am in the process of cleaning away decades of grime and plan to restore the machine and hopefully sew on it. I know it is jumping the gun but I want to find a treadle base and cabinet for the machine before I start any restoration process. I can't bare to put the machine back in the garage so for now it is safe and warm inside. This is one of the best discoveries we've found in this old house. The internet offers lots of good insturctions for cleaning and repairing these machines. I can hardly wait to get started. Patty

I inherited three antique Singer sewing machines. As far as I can tell there is not much wrong with them. On the one that I think would be the easiest to repair, it needs some new wiring. Does any one have any suggestions as to where I can take it to be fixed?
