Just dropping in quickly to say HELLO CANADIAN SEWERS!!    I'm in Oshawa Ontario. If your sewing and live this way, give me a type; I'd love to hear from you. I have found asides from good old Fabricland,  we seem to have lost our big fabric stores. I do most of my ordering online with a few favourites that keep prices nearer to $5/yrd (most dont use metric). I get put off by the bigger prices that are typical for cottons nowadays. Im also a firm believer of reinventing what I have, or cutting down an item for the fabric to be used in other projects.

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL DAY! It is darned cold but beautifully sunny today. Good chance for us to get our Vit.D3 intake...so I'm off to take my Golden Retriever Rex for a cold run.  He runs, I waddle. It's all good. LOL.

My favourite fabric store is www.annsfabric.com in Hamilton... they do some mail order, mostly dance.  If you write and ask for some thing specific (wools, silks, etc.) they have the most gorgeous stuff.  Great quality too.  When I go I am normally looking to match with garments I am altering...

Ps. they don't do quilt fabrics

I was there for the first time last weekend and fell in love with the quaity, and the variety..omg, i have never see so much in the way of variety of prints!

I will be going back to get more, I just bought a few pieces. but will go back.

My nearest fabric store is Fabricland at Castlegar,B.C. and did have Walmwrt at Trail

B.C. but it also cut back. Wish there was another Canadian member close by!

I did mail order to back east but that one is now out of business. It did have some

very nice fabric which i still have not all used up.

Where I live,The biggie is fabricland, Walmart has cut back to small cuts, but still has nice if a tad expensive fabrics and notions. Lately have been finding almost as much fabric at Sally Ann and Value Village as at the fabric store.

Anybody out there decided that the CreativFestival is the place to visit on Oct 21,22,23?  I'm planning on being there at least one day, possibly 3 or 4, if I can decide which courses to take.  I'll stay at my daughter's place for the duration and would love to meet a whole bunch of you on any day you decide to attend.

If the lunch crowds are impossible, we could always order in a pizza and pick it up at the main door.

Hey, Warna ~

It seems that some of us are going and are interested in meeting up with "the bunch from the sewing group".  I'll be there, don't know which day yet but if we can all agree on the day and the time, we could all meet at the lobby downstairs.

Please, everybody who's going, make yourself a name tag so we can find each other!
