We have Atlantic Fabrics (independent) and Fabricville (which is apparently Fabricland?).
I don't have a favourite.

Here in northern Ontario we have Fabricland.
I am west of Toronto, in Mississauga, we also have Fabricland but there is an other source for cottons to quilt and some unusual prints. It is the Oakville Sewing Centre and she does mail orders. If you would like more info please let me know. Joy
hi Joy - I'd be interested in her mail order info, I've ordered from Sew-Sisters in Toronto @ www.sew-sisters.com. Store address is Sew Sisters Quilt Shop 3961 Chesswood Drive Toronto, ON M3H 2R8 416 633-8800 & found them to be excellent.
Ottawa has Fabricland on the ON side and Fabricville on the QC side of the river. But I'm a quilter and there are a bunch of quilt stores in the area...and I often visit many of them. But my favourite store for quilting fabric is Sew for It in Ottawa. It has lots of quilting cottons all in order by colours. When I need to match something that is where I go as I have the most choice.
Hello Judee: I am in Ottawa as well. some day if you are in the mood of a drive it is well worth your time to head out to Jullee's Crafts on the main street of Osgoode. She has a fantastic array of quilting fabrics with baskets and baskets of fat quarters. You can visit her website www.julees.ca to see what classes or discounts are being offered. This is one of my favorite stops for fabrics, friendly service and advice.
Been to Julee's lots...she's on the Aug. quilt shop hop that I always go on. Unfortunately Julee's won't be open much longer. I'm on her newletter list and just got one last week where she said she will be closing down at the end of Dec. this year.
so sad to hear about Julee's - I just discovered her store! Any idea why she is closing?
She said that she had to make a decision to move the shop and expand or to retire. I guess she decided to retire. So she will close at Xmas this year...unless she sells everything before then.
I am in Ottawa. Fabricland is the first store that comes to mind with at least 4-5 locations. We also have Rockland Textiles or C & N Fabrics if you are looking for something more special. We have a lot of stores that offer quilting cottons as well.
It's definitely getting harder to find a bricks and mortar store to buy fabric. I used to be spoiled for choice, Fabricland (of course) Bouclair used to sell fashion fabric and quite a few years ago Lizanne's, plus a few independents. Now it's frustrating because all I have locally is Fabricland, and I come away disappointed more often than not. For example, I went there last month for ivory satin and it was out of stock. I've had to find on line stores to buy fabric and Ebay is great for a lot of things too.
I'm in Metro Vancouver (Pitt Meadows), and our choices for fabric stores aren't fabulous! Fabricland appears to have gone out of business here. We do have a wonderful store, Fabricana, that has two locations, Coquitlam and Richmond.
There are a few other stores, but I will have to go farther afield to find them.

Cheers -- Sonja
