Anybody got a tutorial on how to construct a "Peter Pan" Collar for a blouse?  I just love this type of collar especially when wearing a jumper.

A sloper is a fitting tool, made from your measurements. Email me privately and I could walk you through the process.

Gail Odegaard Comment by Gail Odegaard on December 16, 2010 at 10:23am

what is a sloper?

Claudette Grant Comment by Claudette Grant on December 16, 2010 at 8:56am

If you haven't sewn for yourself in a long time, the first thing to do is make a sloper and use that as your base. It works everytime. Goodluck.

I just join the Dressmaking group and watched Sandra video on using multi size patterns.  Great video.  I have not sewn cloths for myself in years, because they never fit right, to expensive and a waste of time.  Any suggestions on videos, etc., on making cloths that fit?  Thank you.  Gail

I am making a prom dress for my daughter. She picked out a picture of a dress that has "pick-ups" at the bottom of the dress. Other than that is looks like a simple short sundress. I use a dress pattern and then add the pick-ups at the bottom. Any suggestions for creating the pick-ups puffs at bottom of dress?

I have enjoyed the two parts of draping. Is there more? She said we would know her blog. Does anyone know it?

I tried making one of the duct tape forms and almost passed out from lack of air. I guess I got it a little too tight. Would be a "funniest video" of me getting out of the thing. You must have someone to help you and my best friend is a man, and I didn't think it would be a good idea to get his help! I like my " singer "dressform better than" my double". I just learned about padding a dress form. Had I known about padding before I bought the "my double", I wouldn't have needed to buy it. The singer is a much better quality form and the boobs are in the right place. The my double has the boobs in the right place IF I AM NOT wearing a bra. Gravity - what would we do without it?

Duct tape dress form. I also had a summer class where they used strips of plaster of paris to make a body double. That one ended up a little bigger than me. I think if I tried it again, I would cut out about 1/4 inch on the sides and center front and back.

This video demonstrates how to fix / adjust / repair the timing of the hook on a sewing machine. If the thread from your needle isn't getting caught by the hook that rotates around, this video explains what to adjust to fix that. Requires some very basic tools and takes 15-30 minutes - maybe less.
