I have a Diva I bought in 1993, I love it. Mine makes lovely buttonholes. The Diva came with an optional buttonhole thing, with a dial for length and a special set of numbers to key in for the different styles. This machine is Swiss made so it is a precision sewing machine. The newer Elnas are not made by the same factory; I think the name was sold to a new company. My foot pedal wore out and it took a while to track one down. I found out the machine cannot be fixed if it breaks down. Parts are no longer manufactured. I will keep sewing on this machine for as long as I can. It has some stitches that are not found on any other machine that I really like. Also the 'harp' (the space to the right of the needle) is taller than the new machines I have tried. The free arm on the Elna is smaller around, another thing I like. I love playing with the decorative stitches, though it does take patience to wait for them to stitch. I think it is a fun machine to sew on.

Warna, those 9000s and Divas that I've seen on eBay were going for anywhere from $100 to $400, depending upon what came with them. I also have a 9000; bought it about a month before the Diva came out. The one thing I've always disliked is the fact it refuses to make a buttonhole. Thank goodness I had a few other machines which made beautiful buttonholes. I bought a used Viking Designer 1 a few years ago, but just can't get used to the lack of a presser foot. So, guess what? You guessed right, I'm back to the 9000. Hahaha...must be losing a bunch of brain cells!!!

Regards,
Pat
