Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Hi everyone! I've just recently begun to sew again after 20 some years, and before that it was only a few projects, which I taught myself to do. I'm making a long sleeved shirt for my husband (Burda 8471), which is actually coming out really nice. The instructions say to attach the sleeves first, then sew the side seams and sleeve seams all at once. I understand that part but can't figure out how to do a flat felled seam on the sleeves to finish them. Any suggestions????

Thanks HeyJudee, great information. I especially liked the one from burdastyle. Now I see that I didn't word my question correctly. I understand the mechanics of making a flat felled seam. What I don't understand is how ur supposed to do it inside of the tube that is created when u sew the sleeve seam, unless you bunch up the fabric like when putting on a pair of stockings?
