Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

A flat-felled seam is created when sewing two lines of stitching at the seam while at the same time, enclosing the raw edges of the fabric. This seam finish prevents unraveling and fraying. It also makes the seam very strong giving the finished garment a nice clean finish on the inside.  Sewing a flat felled seam is easier than you might think.

The video below demonstrates a step by step tutorial on how to sew a flat felled seam:

Good video!  How would you do a shirt/blouse armhole seam?  The arm fabric looks like it is the "outside" of the seam, and it just makes no sense to me.  But it sure looks very good!
Wow! I love this! Thankyou so much for putting this tutorial on, I really appreciate it.  I am learning something new all the time.
