Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Do you like to sew for your child's teacher? I do! This is a gift from last year that I thought might serve as inspiration.

Instead of giving the usual coffee mug or apple, stop by your favorite teacher's classroom, and take a look around. You may find that your sewing skills can fill a need.
For instance, these are oversized pillows to be used in the Reading Nook of a classroom. Take the project one step further and make removable pillow covers (for easy washing) that are personalized with your teacher's name..

Other ideas:

Cabinet curtains - to hide the supplies
Seat sacks - Also known as chair pockets (tutorial coming soon!) or slipcovers for the student's chair to hold books or school supplies - a great organizer!
Fabric boxes - large or small to hold folders or paper clips, etc.
Baggie Books - Reusable bags with a clear vinyl pocket on the front (to insert a card with the child's name on it). Kids use these to take home a book for nightly reading.

What are you going to sew for your favorite teacher this year?

Neat ideas! I taught kindergarten for 7 years and I'd have loved these. Much better than the boxes of chocolates that I did receive...LOL
