Hello!

This is my first post on here. :) I have a husqvarna sapphire 870 quilt sewing machine that is acting up. The foot refuses to raise up or down and I don't know what to do. It's still under warranty and when I called the shop where I bought it, they said I would have to bring it back to the shop. This is easier said than done though as the shop is in York in the UK and I am in Mombasa, Kenya.

Any ideas on what could be causing the problems?

Thank you!

Yes, is the same experience I had several years ago - the warranty repairs are only done at the dealer who sold the machine - I found this out when I took my machine (which was 'under warranty' to a local dealer where I had moved, and I was told, yes, it could be fixed, but as he was not the original seller he could not honor the warranty. I had to pay to have my machine fixed - this was a timing issue with a different brand, not a Husqvarna machine.

The alternative would be to ship it back to the dealer where you bought the machine and have them fix it, but the shipping cost may be more than the cost of the repairs. I would take it to a local sewing machine dealer in Mombasa and get an estimate before making a decision.

I had a similar problem with my Viking/Husqvarna embroidery machine - the presser foot was not lowering all the way when doing machine embroidery - the room was very cold - when the room got warmer, the problem corrected itself. no repair was necessary. I try to use this machine on a regular basis, just in case the problem happens again, but so far this summer/fall it has not happened again. I also had a problem when the machine was too warm - if you have a computerized machine, there is a temperature range similar to other computers where it will work well, and anything colder or warmer than that will cause problems.
