There are probably lots of things, but you did not mention if you used needle and thread or sewing machine or what skill levels.
Those fabric cards are nice with mom and dads day coming up and then there are those decorated cloth cards, art cards. Or maybe head bands for the girls, decorated and the boys could make bags for treasures
Any thing with polar fleece is quick and simple, hats, coasters,
Depending on the ages a simple flannel board project, the children could cut out shapes and stitch layers to make houses and trees and make a villiage.

Thanks Linda! They are all beginners, age about 8 - 11. I have made head bands decorated with a huge felt flower! We have made a cover for a book using a layer of calico with foil sweeti wrappers tuck on and a layer of net stitched on top. I want things for children to dip in and out of with a maximum of 1 hour to take. The hour projects are needle and thread and the longer projects using a machine.

Vicky, I am new to the site and was wondering what did you and your beginning students make in your class? I just finished an 8 week, 1 hour a week on Wednesday afternoon, class with 9 students (ages 8-11) and we made a bag. The simple 4 piece bag with front, back, pocket and strap. i must say I was greatly surprised at how quickly the little ladies picked up the skills needed to make the bags. We made our patterns on a oversized post-it page, cut it out, pinned it to the cloth, cut that out and during the 4th class each lady got to sew two sheets of paper together the way that the bag would be sewn and the next class we pressed and sewed the pockets to the front; next two sessions we sewed the bag together (front to back); and for the last class, which went 2.5 hours, we added the straps. I have gotten calls from moms asking me to make garments for them, and to teach them to sew. I must say that for the next 6 months, 2 nights a week will be filled with 2 hour sewing classes. I hope your experience was as much fun as mine was.
