Finding Time to Sew

It is getting easier, as my boys get older. I now find that in a pinch, the kids will be happy just sitting with me in the sewing room, watching TV or looking at my button collection, etc. At least for half an hour or so!

Although I do it as much as I can, sewing at night after the kids are in bed is not always the best solution for me. Sometimes I am just way too tired to do much that requires concentration. I'm more of a morning person, but the only morning I can sew usually is Sunday. Every other morning has an obstacle of some sort.

I talked to a lady the other day who gets up very early just to have some time to herself and sew. She loves the idea of being up before everyone else and doing what she wants to do.

for me, I need to get motivate to sew. If I have a project asked by friends or charity work that I do (which I find very difficult to say no to) Ill put the time and effort to finish it in time. Also having friends to do sewing with you at home ot theirs.

Not only is Nancy Zieman's book excellent, It's on sale at her website. Also use the crockpot - a LOT. dinner is cooking while you sew. i made turkey breast in the Crockpot last nite, we'll have turkey today and soup by Wednesday- all thanks to the crockpot. Schedule a time is you can I try for sat AM during PBS sewing shows , and SunNit for iron and mend .

yea you should schedule time for it.
I'm the same, when I'm trying to make time i always time i should make time for school stuff instead.

Also, i think your husband is a wonderful guy.

I make an appointment on our family calendar to sew. On Tuesday afternoons, I run a sewing ministry at my church to do mending for church members. If no one brings something to me at that time, I sew for myself. At home I sew in the afternoon or evenings after dinner or on Saturday. I don't have little ones anymore. Lack of energy is my greatest obstacle ... darn that heart disease. I do sew for at least 15 minutes every day & use a timer so I don't get overly tired.
