terri- love your hund! we have four; two big hairy rescues and two little designer poos. i was wondering what you use your serger for. do you sew with it or just finish edges? i don't use mine as much as i thought i would.
Hi Barbaloo, My dog is Maggie. We got her when she was 2 days old. She is the best dog.
I use my Serger alot! You can use it to make seams in clothing etc. Much faster than a regular sewing machine. Makes your garments look more proffesional. I would suggest a Juki. They are relativly inexpensive and work Great! I found a used Juki on Craigs list for $185.00. It is my favorite machine.
tape measure
pins/needles
tweezers - long nose for my serger
scissors
extra thread
I go nuts when I can't find my tape measure, scissors and pins - even though I have several pairs of scissors, several tape measure rolls and two pin cushions but they always seem to disappear and often my children are the culprits - grrr.. :<) Oh and often my seam ripper... 5 is difficult.
1.Chakoner - as a chalk marker - the ONLY one that seems to work - EVERY time - and brushes out easily
2. Clover 2501 Glass head Silk Pins in a
3. Ewesful wool pincushion - sits flat, and is big
4. Tape Measure around my neck
5. Japanes Snips - quick to snip threads - saves time over getting my fingers into scissors.
NOTHING drives me crazier as an instructor as I travel around teaching my Creative Sweatshirt Jackets than fishing 'pins' (or what some women recycle as pins!) out of a tin of some type!!!!!!!!!!! That wastes SO much time!!! My pet peeve for sure!
1. Claus Sewing Trimmers...sharp and durable...they can cut anything
2. Magnetic Pin Holder...and my magnetic wand for picking up dropped pins
3. Clear, acrylic ruler...makes it easier for me to see and line up designs
4. Rotary Cutter...have many, but love my Clover cutter the best
5. Large self-healing mat...one day, in my dream studio, I'll have a tabletop made with one of these :o)
I agree with all the other posts in the pins, glasses, seam ripper, small scissors needs. But I can't sew without music! I always have the radio or a CD on. Music gets the creative juices flowing, keeps me 'in the zone', and relaxes me. :)
