One of the kids plays AAA hockey and we have an auction to fundraise coming up not this weekend, but next. I bought 4 meters of 100% cotton with hockey equipment printed all over it. Helmets, sticks, skates, etc...

I'm not sure as to what to make to get the most bag for my buck, and to get the team the most for it in the auction. I need EASY/QUICK projects.

A few things I am considering are:

-drawstring bags
-pillow cases

The projects would pretty much have to be something a kid would use...

Anyone have any ideas?

Not having ever played hockey, I'm not sure how much equipment it entails for each player to have to drag back and forth to practices and games but how about designing a simple draw-string bag that players could use for that purpose? Either that or or make a simple large block type quilt like an Attic Windows to auction off to a fanatic hockey fan. It can be something about lap size that a hockey fan could take to a game and keep warm under. In fact, the more that I ponder it, a Quillow would be perfect. It's a lap size quilt, very simply made and has a pocket on the reverse or back side of the quilt. When the quilt is not being used, it is folded in such a way that it tucks into the rear pocket and becomes a pillow. Absolutely ideal. Something soft to sit on and something warm to snuggle under when the weather gets chilly. There are patterns out there for Quillows somewhere as they've been around for years.
Good idea!!! YAh!
