I noticed that I talked about my Etsy store in an earlier post. Guess its about time to announce that I moved to ArtFire awhile ago. I still use the same name. I've been so busy learning my way around ArtFire that I haven't been here lately. There have been many great posts since I was last here.

I use small tags with string for my handbags and jewerly and a little larger for my larger items.  I use a small pink pin to attach them .  They look pretty and are easy to remove.  I also use pink ink.  sherry pell

I have been reading some of these comments, and they are all very interesting and informative.
However, I would like to say that I do not agree that SWN should become a place to sell your goods.
I think you could offer your websites etc but I like this to be a site to talk about your projects, show a tutorial, have a discussion, share tips and advice.
I like it to be a place to show your work and share your experiences.
I love this website, and as you can see, I like to add content etc.
Please don't change the set up.
Thankyou for reading this, and please, add your opinion.

JaQ's JunQ,

I looked at your photos and I love what you make. I'd like to check out your Etsy store too. Is it the same name you have here?

I agree with selling at affordable prices, that's what's going to sell an item for you. Having a variety of items make a difference too.

I make totes, purses, key fobs and coffee cozies to mention a few. I feel I'm more then fair at pricing my bags and other things but the craft fair market didn't work for me.

I've been selling at a local flea market that has many craft vendors for over 4 yrs now. I mainly sell crystal and other elegant glass pieces, linens and buttons. I just started bringing in my handmade items this past spring and I've done well with them. I have customer who has a store in a popular place in Portland, ME who I've made several bags for. She's done very with them.

Word of mouth helps me out too, I've gotten several custom orders that way.  I honestly think the economy, what you sell and the area you live in has to do with how well your sales will be outside of selling online.

I have an Etsy account that I set up several months ago but haven't listed anything yet. I also sell on eBay and have done well with it but haven't tried selling my handmade items there. My goal for the new year is to start selling my handmade items, buttons, linens and other small things on Etsy.

Hi Everybody

Just wanted to share my experience.  I've been selling on Etsy for about 6 months now and sales are getting better and better.  For me, I think a big part of it is that I offer a lot of vintage items as well as my hand-made crafts and sewing stuff.  I think the more VARIETY you can offer, the more you will make in sales.  I have sold everything from vintage watch parts for 6.00 to my upcycled t-shirt dresses for 45.00.  Personally, I make it a rule to have "affordable" prices.  Most of my sewn items cost very little to make, so I gauge the prices on how much I would spend for them (as a person on unemployment).  I have friends who are stubborn with their prices, which I think are too high, and I sell more items than them and make it up in volume.  I would rather sell something at a lower price than have to hang on to it.  Just my two cents. :-)

I"ve done 2 Craft Fairs in the last month both of them were total disasters. The show last weekend was the worst, I felt insulted so many times by comments that were made. I was told so many times that my bags were nice but not worth my prices. I think I'm fair on my pricing or even below what I should charge but that was a total insult to me and my work.

I'm looking for any info that will help.

On Etsy you're more likely to receive your payment as soon as your item sells compared to other sites.

I get weekly updates from a blog that I follow and they have great information about different things on selling your own items including getting people to your sites.  I'm new to this group so I don't know if you can add links to other sites or not.

I have looked into Etsy, but I wonder about how long it takes for  you to get payment? I am looking to sell from my website, now the question is how to get people to the website.  Any ideas?
