It is a beautiful dress. I suggest you cut the pattern out in individual pieces. Don't cut anything out on the fold. Another thing you could do with chiffon or a similar fabric is thread based the pattern outlline unto the chiffon and then cut it out. The thread lines will be your sewing line

Thank you for the suggestions...very clever to baste the pattern to the fabric...I'll consider that. I posted a little more on the other thread I started, too, if you are interested in following.
Hello:
I just completed a four day sewing class with Susan Khalje and Kenneth King. One of the many techniques I learned was how to work with chiffon. One of the ladies in the class worked on a black chiffon dress. And that was the techinque Susan and Kenneth taught her. It worked like a charm. One word of caution, It's a time consuming process. Also one more thing remember to sew baste all the pattern information onto the chiffon. Because once the pattern is remove then the basting will be your guide. Also, when thread basting use a fine needle and fine thread. this way holes are not left in your fabric
how do you baste the pattern to the fabric? If you baste through the tissue on the actual sewing lines, won't the tissue shred when it's time to remove it?
Maybe I did not explained it correctly. You don't base through the pattern tissue. All seam allowances are removed from the pattern. the pattern is pin to the fabric and then you based around the edges of the pattern, this in turn creates a thread outline of the pattern. You mark darts and all other information with a tracing wheel on the fabric and the use basting thread to outline it.
Once everything is based you add the seam allownace before cutting the fabric. The basting line is the sewing line. This allows you to match up the sewing line perfectly.

I joined this forum just to read this pattern review.  I purchased the pattern today via internet, and hope to sew a dress for a wedding in August.  I have never done work with Chiffon, and was wondering if there are alternate fabrics, or tips for working with chiffon, that would be helpful.  I would consider myself a intermediate seamstress.  I can follow a pattern, but usually have to take out a few seams before I get it totally right.  It has been 14 years since I took a class on how to read a pattern.
