Do any of you use embroidery software on your Pfaff machine OTHER THAN Pfaff's 3D or 4D software? I bought the high end Pfaff serger then several months later bought my 2170 Pfaff Sewing machine. The store did not even mention to me about the software until later when they were trying to explain something to me she realized they didn't tell me about the software. I had my Bernina which I traded in for 21 years. It had all the decorative stitches but did not do embroidery. When I was told the price I almost fell out {on cost of software}. I think I was a customer they were just wanting to sell a machine to. Bernina is no longer in my hometown. Is there other Digitizing Software compatible with my Pfaff 2170. They also didn't tell me it wouldn't work on a Mac machine. So I have had to invest in PC laptop and security as well..

Hi
The Babylock embroidery software will work and check out OESD embroidery web site as they have software.

Wow - it sounds like you got burned. I'm afraid I don't use any kind of embroidery software. However, I've had a similar experience dealing with Pfaff retail sales stores. If I had it to do all over again I would never have bought Pfaff 2056 mostly because of the difficulty of getting quality support. As soon as I can afford to, I'm switching to Brother!
Yes, I use PCD/WIN on my 7550 and 7570m. I am considering adding Embird also
Thank you for comments. I am not familiar with PCD/WIN. To tell you the truth I'm not familiar with a lot, since I only have the Creative Assistant that came with my machine. My husband is going to gift me with software for Christmas, but I am still so confused as what I should get. Prices are all over the board.
I use Embird software with a Vikant Ultimate Box II Plus for my embroidery. The PCD-Win software that came with my 7570 is hopelessly outdated so this meets my needs at a reasonable cost. I am planning on buying a dedicated embroidery machine around the end of 2010 that has a larger field than 4 x 4. I am wanting to do more with machine embroidery and that is my challenge this year. Embird is not machine specific & the total package is less than $500.
Thank you Marty for your reply. I ordered last week the cheaper program that my Pfaff dealer can get for me.
They quoted me in the $800 dollar range compared to the $2,300 one. She told me it does very little editing. I would be very curious if I am getting taken advantage of. I have spent so much money with them and have gotten very little training on my machine. They are the only dealer in Arkansas.
Glad you have come to some conclusion, Jodi. It will be helpful to your programming for embroidery. I am not familiar with Creative Assistant. My hope is that your Dealer will offer you help in learning the program you have bought. Unfortunately, I did not have that opportunity and I am sure I would have latched on to the system better had I had some supervision.

There are lots of tutorials on Youtube that help to learn how to use the software.  The store you bought the software from probably has free lessons to get your started as well.  Combining designs and adding lettering is all I wanted to do for a very long time.  I found that going through the manuals that came with the software at my own speed helped more than the classes I tried.  With the manuals and Youtube I can go through the steps until I understand it.

Jodie,
There are a lot of stitches and embroidery designs already on the Pfaff 2170 that you can embroider with. I have the same machine - but I bought mine from eBay. It came with the 3D software but I also bought a new version (4D that had never been registered) from eBay also. Do you get free classes for your machine? If so, take advantage of those. That is the one thing I do not have access to - well, I can take the classes and pay for each one! Anyway, use your manual and work your way through it and you will be surprised at what you can do without paying for the software. If you would like to buy my Pfaff 3D software, just let me know. You just won't be able to update it, but it can do more than most people would ever do anyway.
Good luck with your machine! I love, love, love my 2170!
Susan

Hi Susan, I dont know if you still have the Pfaff 3D software, but if you do, would you let me know how much you are selling it for.

Janell

Hello Janell,

Yes I still have the software.  I was finally going to try to get around to putting it on eBay now that the holidays are over.  I was going to ask $300 for it.  It is the suite which has all of the modules.  There is a booklet for each module and the dongle is included.

Let me know if you are interested or if you have any other questions!

Happy Embroidering!

Susan

Hi Susan, thanks for getting back to me.  Has it been registered before?  Not to sound idiotic, but what is the purpose of the dongle?  I have a Pfaff 2124.
