OOOH, what a fun group! Just wanted to share a few free patterns I created that you might like. You may have seen them already, but they are really easy, cute, and fun.

Love seeing all the great bears, I have been making my Bears from old fur coats for over 10 years now ; but ran out of steam last year and am just getting motivated to getback into them again. Many of the bears I make for others from coats that belonged to a family member and the bears become a cherished reminder of that loved family member. I have also started to add some felting to some bears. Look forward to hearing from others making bears and seeing their work too.

Here is the gargoyle I made for my grandson's Christmas gift—

He's made from an old Magic Threads pattern—I used fleece and felt, and metallic fabric for his wings and horns.

Hi Denise..welcome to plushie creators :O) There is a way to use the shank button if you haven't already assembled the bear but the best is safety buttons or many times I use felt for safety before assembling. Good luck figuring out what you want to do.

Hello Denise! Welcome to Plushie Creators! Do you havea pic of the bear? I imagine shank buttons would be too floppy unless you were able to pull them in extremely tight & knot them off at the neck or something. Sometimes when I make sock dogs, I use buttons and pull them snugly then knot them, so there's an indention like a socket, but a shank button would be mighty floppy no matter what you did I think. Why no just use stuffed animal eyes instead?

I just wanted to say Hello to everyone since I just joined the group. I'm new to this type of sewing, so I thought I better find a group that knows a lot more than I do. I made my first teddy bear a couple of nights ago, I love the way it came out.... fighting now on how to get the eyes (buttons) in right. The pattern said to use shank buttons but unless there is a trick to it... I don't see this working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
