I've never made a swimsuit. I think my son's would be easy, but I'm not so convinced on my daughters.

I should first start with 1) pattern 2) kind of material....any suggestions?

Hello! I have found that ChezAmi fabrics are perfect for swim wear. You can buy lots of their fabrics from the the clearance section where they are $3.50 a yard. Go to: http://www.chezami.com/exp.ja6?file=CLEARANCE&pathcode=fabricsh... to check it out. Their fabrics are top quality and I continue to order from them on a regular basis.
I just checked the site out and I love it. The prices are affordable too. Thanks for the info. ;-)
I have some great fabric from Chez Ami to make a swimsuit, but I need a pattern for a 3T. I don't take Octtobre Magazine, and that's the only place I've seen a decent pattern. Anyone have any suggestions?
Wow, thanks for that link to swimsuit fabric!! Love their stuff! Does anyone know where to get ready-made collars for polo shirts?
wwwSew Baby.com may still carry the collars.
Jalie has swimsuit patterns for both adults and children from 2T up, for board shorts, bikinis, and fuller coverage suits. If you go to the website www.jalie.com you can see the back of the pattern envelope.
Thanks Lisa. That's a big help.
When my daughter was growing up, I used Kwik Sew. They are still what I would use. They are all multi size and I trace the size needed.
I would love to try and make my granddaughter a swimsuit. I love the fabrics at chez ami (i think that is the name) Im just not sure if i should takle it. Maybe I'll try!
sooooo melissa did you ever tackle a bathing suit?!
I'm planning on making a swimsuit for my 3yr old daughter. I was recently told about a pattern that is in Sew Beautiful Magazine. It seems theyre all made of seersucker, which is fine with me. Im sure a pattern could also be found on etsy!
I couldn't find any patterns on Etsy unless some have recently been listed. The newest Sew Beautiful does have a 2 piece pattern. I hope to get mine in the mail this week.
I really wanted a one piece pattern, but I saw one the other day that was a 2 piece, and the top was made really simple, sort of like a pillowcase dress, but long enough to cover the belly button. My granddaughter has an "outie" belly button.
