I bought a Janome Memory Craft 9500 sewing and embroidery machine about 2 1/2 yrs ago and haven't stopped sewing since. This is my first "better" sewing machine and I love it. Reliability was a high priority in my search for a new machine and I have not been disappointed. It sews well and seems to handle any brand of embroidery thread without complaint. However, the largest size hoop my machine takes is a 5 x 7 (or the Gigahoop). My next machine would have to be able to handle a 6 x 8 hoop as I like to work with large designs. A knee lift would also be nice.

I really enjoy the simpllicity of the Janome. I have had a 9000, a 10001 and now an 11000 SE. They are a real work horse and do beautiful stitching and embroidery....
I have been looking around for a new machine. My favorite at this point is the brother PC 420 although i did see that someone had a Janome memory craft 440 (or might be 4400 - can't remember which) in the paper for around $300. I really don't know much about Janome Machines, so i was wondering if anyone can tell me what makes them better than Brother or one of the other competitors. I know Singer has its issues, thats not even an option for me. I have been sewing for a long time and i want something thats reliable, but doesn't cost me a fortune.
