Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

To eliminate or at least reduce bulk when joining the ends of elastic for waistbands etc, you can butt the ends together and sew through them *and* a piece of ribbon.

An even easier method is to butt the ends of the elastic together and sew down the seam with a wide triple-zigzag stitch. Backstitch all the way back.

This creates a virtually undetectable seam when the elastic is sewn into any casing.
