@ Linda - There is also A Great Notion in Abbotsford....it's 3 blocks from my office (yikes!).  I find they have a greater selection through their catalogue than in the store itself but either way, I love their stuff!!  And the staff are very helpful!  You should also check out Hamel's Fabrics on line.  They have gorgeous quilting material if you're into quilting.

Shawn -- see if any of the videos at http://sew-whats-new.com/video/sewing-a-zipper help you with your problem  I plugged "zipper AND video" into the search box for the Sew-What's-New site to find that hyperlink but there were others.  Good luck.

If you have info. about it , I would really appreciate hearing it.

I've heard of agreatnotion but never got around to visiting the website. Guess I'll have to do that;I'm bad...I can spend hours and hours just looking at notions and fabrics.
Linda Stokes Comment by Linda Stokes on July 11, 2011 at 3:46pm
For notions you might want to check out http://www.agreatnotion.com  They are in Surrey, BC and they are great.  They ship to the US also.
Bonnie Comment by Bonnie on July 11, 2011 at 3:27pm
I've been ordering from fabrics.com for a little over a year now. Continental US they ship for free most all the time when your order reaches $35 and up. Been pleased with everything so far. Notionssometimes are cheaper to order online if you shop around a little. Nancy and Clothilde sometimes have great sales for their internet and email customers: so do HomeSew and NewarkDressmakers. I still do buy local when JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby have at least 30% off. I know it sure isn't like it used to be; I grew up around textile mills and real 'factory' outlets at the mills'  'sales room' ; laces and millinery stuff was no more than 25 cents/yard and good fabrics could be bought for 50cents a yard. We will not ever see that again.
Linda Stokes Comment by Linda Stokes on July 11, 2011 at 11:59am

Have any of you in Canada ordered from or checked into ordering from maryjos.com?

I don't know if they ship to Canada or if they do how, but they are great to work with and have LOTS of stock.  I go there every year when I visit my brother and I have ordered on line, but I'm in the States now.

Thea McCurry Comment by Thea McCurry on July 11, 2011 at 9:14am
Their regular shipping is by USPS - they only use UPS for oversized orders that won't fit in the standard size USPS shipping envelopes, which hold a lot of yardage... just don't ask me how I know~!

This video demonstrates how to fix / adjust / repair the timing of the hook on a sewing machine. If the thread from your needle isn't getting caught by the hook that rotates around, this video explains what to adjust to fix that. Requires some very basic tools and takes 15-30 minutes - maybe less.
