I love the vintage styles from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I have bought several dresses on ebay to wear, and they can get really! exspensive, so I thought I would try to start making some of my own. Wish me luck! LOL!

What a great group. I love vintage things in general. Especially buttons and ric rac. I have a small collection of vintage patterns. I especially like apron patterns. I just bought one at a garage sale that says on the envelope.." A slimming style for stout women"...isn't that a nice way to say plus size! I also like to incorporate vintage linens into my aprons.

I just joined and am hoping to get comments on the following questions: How well do you think children's clothing made from vintage patterns (40's, 50', 60's) (from modern fabrics) would sell? Is there an interest in that type of clothing?

I love everything vintage, I grab every piece of vintage lace I can get my hands on often times I buy them saying it will be used on one of my dolls but then some how it hard to part with. I collect vintage handbags and purses many of which I do use with my dolls others I use myself. Every purse I carry is vintage. My saying if it's old and worn I love it!

Hi Carolyn, I wanted to second the idea of checking ebay. I have been going crazy on there picking up patterns from the 50's and 60's to sew for my 2 little girls (3 yrs and 1 yr.) So far with shipping and all I haven't paid more than $5 for any of the ones I've bought. I also love to pick up old patterns at Goodwill and Salvation Army. I've had much success between ebay and the secondhand stores with finding the kids ones.

But I have a question for others out there: Know any good sources for plus size women's patterns from the late 50's through mid 60's? I'd like to have a few more in my collection for my own clothes but these seem to be much harder to come by.

Hi Carolyn, I have several baby to toddler patterns if the fifties are the years you are looking for. I have several from other dates, just can't remember what years they are right off the top of my head. I'll be in my patterns tomorrow and will let you know what I have. If anything interests you just let me know.

Hi folks - I've just joined this group - thought I'd fit right in, since i also am 'vintage!LOL!
Seriously, I love the vintage patterns from the late 30's to the early 60's. My era, I guess!
I made a lot of the childrens ones for my DGD, and have made a couple of them for my self a few years ago, but not lately. I'm working right now on a new pattern by Decades of Style - it's a copy of a 50's housedress they've named "Diamond Dress". I made the muslin, and adjusted it till it was right, and now have the fabric cut out with the 1" S.A. in case it needs further adjustment. Looking forward to getting it finished. Will keep you posted.....
