Here is a link to a pattern:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015ON1A6/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?p...

I would think you could easily have enough fabric from a suit to make one of these.

Good Luck!

Help!  My husband is a drama teacher and he is doing Miracle Worker.  I have all the women's costumes done.  But the men are a problem... do any of you know how to make a frock coat or cutaway coat out of a suit jacket and a pair of pants?  or maybe out of a trench coat? I have trench coats coming out of my ears..  but I dont have a single frock coat and I seem to always be needing them and we dont have the money in the budget to rent any.  I would really appreciate any advice! thanks so much!!

It is getting close to the time for Halloween. What is on the menu for costuming this year?

I have been sewing garments from the medieval and renaissance periods for the last 13 years. It is not something I do every day, but I have learned so much from my involvement, drafting patterns, fitting, etc.

I'm glad to be on this site and look forward to connecting with other creative minds...

I used to make costumes for my son who was a professional clown for a few years and also polynesian dance costumes for a couple of professional groups, also lots of things for community theatre. I don't have much left in the way of patterns, but I might be able to help if someone has questions about construction etc.

After sewing for school plays the past 10 years, I guess it is time to get more serious about it!

Most of my costume making has been for a couple of dance studios. I have made so many poodle skirts that I've lost count. The wildest costumes I've ever made were "flying carpets" who danced with Aladdin. If I can find any photos, I'll post them later.
