i think that holloween is the best time of the year and i need help please . I'm uneployed right now and i am tring to make a leotard for a costume . ito start off i dont have the use of a serger so that is out of the question . can i sew the leotard by hand ???
If anybody can help that would be great and thank you .

I sew things like leotards with a regular sewing machine. I set the zigzag to 1mm and the stitch length to 2mm and it works fine. There is enough stretch from the zigzag. You do need to use a ball point needle and I find Gutermann 100% polyester thread works best. Here is a picture of one.

Anthony don't kill your fingers trying to sew that material by hand, use a zig-zag stitch on the sewing machine and be sure to take the leo on a test run around the house!
