The X Bag pattern is by Four Corners Designs--not a free pattern . I bought it several years ago & have made several. I ordered pattern off a website-don't remember which one. Good luck on finding it - it is a great bag!

Nice purses Jackie and a really great christmas present. I'm
sure the lucky recipients will be thrilled. What is the size of the purses?

Jackie Earwood Comment by Jackie Earwood on October 26, 2009 at 7:25pm

Hi all, I just started making bags. I thought I would do a few for Christmas presents. I've only made three, but they turned out ok. The denim was my "test" to see if I liked the size and the double handles. I didn't, so I increased the size and made only one long handle. I attached various charms and eventually they will have the children's pictures in the photo charms. I guess the sky is the limit when embellishing.

Great idea Jane Doe. I teach sewing, and the first project my students make (no matter what age) is a walker bag to donate to the local nursing home. It teaches them right off that they can use their new skill to help others.

I make an 18 x 18 bag with a pocket inside and donate them to Missions in Africa. They are used as Diaper bags for the new moms. The nurses in the hospitals put an extra baby outfit, blankets and such in them for when the moms go home.
Also the shopping sort of bag can be used as book bags. I made some for one of my kid's teachers years ago. Each child had a reading book they brought home every night and the bag was to carry this book home and back, there was a pocket on the outside for the book to be recorded as read.
Was fun making them out of kid prints...way back when!
You can also donate to shelters for Women. Also to the men's mission.
The elderly like to have bags they can carry when they go shopping.
Churches could find a use for them....
the donation places are endless.....
The Salvation Army
Pregnancy Centres
Day Cares
Pre Schools.....etc

I have a question for you guys..I'm making some grocery tote bags from a variety of fabrics in my stash. I'm thinking about donating these bags to somewhere they would be used and enjoyed.
So where should I go to donate these bags? All suggestions appreciated.

Thanks a bunch
Kay
