Not been to that shop, however am a Bernina fan for several years. I have 2, and am now lusting after the new 830. Have you seen it? It will not be in the shops until late September, but you can see the machine on the internet. Have not told DH yet. It is the price of a small car. $10,000. I NEED ONE! It has everything. Given that, there should be some good deals on trade-ins for those of us who will go for this.

I purchased my Bernina 155 in Jan 08 on eBay for $700 (that included shipping) spent $60 on service check to assure machine was OK and found it had less than 5 hours on machine and was in perfect condition. It came with 12 feet, manual, and mastering your Bernina guide bookand computer hook up to change stitches unopened. Keep your eyes open and you will find a deal. This machine has been used daily and it is a gem.

I have 3 older Berninas----two old (1970s) model 830s and one model 1130. They are wonderful machines for basic sewing, quilting. They have some decorative stitches but not the BIG embroidery capacities of the newer machines. They are really wonderful, sturdy and reliable machines. Also a model 930 is just as good. These are hard to find, though. Try eBay and see.

I just got a beautiful 930 Recorder with cabinet. It is in immaculate condition with all the tools and accessories. I also have a 1080 that has been consistently reliable. I haven't been able to find out much about the 930 Recorder or what the difference between the 930 and the 930 Recorder is -- do you know?
