I can't believe I actually completed the top...now to quilt it!!This is my Synergy wallhanging designed by Jinny Beyer. I'm all out of cotton batting so I'll have to run out Friday and pick some up before I can layer it. HOW WOULD YOU QUILT IT?
I'm a little clueless on this one. Should I just stick to "stitch in the ditch" and just let the pattern be the star? With 41 pieces in each block it seems like the block should shine. What do you think? I think you have to go to my profile page because the picture doesn't want to upload!

wow, that is beautiful. If you really want to experiment, I would practice on a sample. Like scan the pattern onto fabric (shy bother with all the piecing. I have quilted using words phrases poetry sampler. Stipple the center 'sqare' and the centers of the stars. Or leave the centers bare and stipple the points. But I'm one of those reinvent the wheel types (I know I can't improve the wheel, but I can have fun trying and have some happy accidents along the way). Hope to see your finished piece on of these days.
What a beautiful job! The choice of colors is breathtaking. I'd give it to my dear friend (who does my quilting) and let her decide how to quilt it! She always does a great job and it's a fun surprise to see what she's done. Let us know what you decide to do. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely beautiful!! I love the colours and only wish I had that much patience. Personally I'd do stitch in the ditch arond the border, anaround the main outline of the blocks, using stippling in the stars or dark purple areas in between the block and the outer purple border. No matter what you decide it is beautiful!
Thanks so much, I'm going to start with some stitch in the ditch but I'm not good at stippling. Although I have been following Leah Day's blog on 365 days of machine quilting http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/2009/09/day-39-peppermint-ca...
so, I've been practicing. By the time I get to that point in the quilt I should feel comfortable with some free motion. You should check out her website, it's great.
Sure is a beautiful quilt. Purple is one of my faves! I would probably do something circular in the blocks to give it "motion". Stitching in the ditch would probably be okay as there are so many pieces but I'm one of those "color outside the lines" kind of people and I usually go against the grain. How about arc quilting the fan shapes from the center of the block out, doing each one separate and about 1/4" to 1/2" apart? That would give in motion and be unique.
