Hi I'm new. I have a White 1919 model and I LOVE it. I paid about $250 for it, but it is a workhorse. It is a big heavy to take to classes, etc., but I wouldn't have it any other way. It does everything I need it to do and it doesn't complain. haha I should be so lucky with my kid or my husband!

I use the Pfaff Select 3.0 in my classes and it has been a real workhorse. It has the IDT feed and great needle piercing power. It has surprised me several times sewing over something that other machines would get stuck on. If you have a Pfaff Dealer in your area it is worth looking at.

Yes, my dealer has often told me to avoid plastic parts. He tries to stock only metal machines with good quality steel in them.
He's a bit too far away and I haven't been able to get down there to look at what he's got in stock. I'd like to switch to a nearby dealer, but I don't know who to trust. At least he services everything he sells. I plan to spend at least $600, but it will likely be more. I wish I could afford a few thousand and buy my dream machine. The way things stand I'll be getting the best buy I can manage and hope it lasts another 30 years.

White was purchased by Viking (who also ownes Pfaff and Singer) and they no longer make White Sewing Machines. The best suggestion I have is to go to a Dealer and sew on the machines, plan on spending $250 or more. We give a year free service with our new machines and a lesson on the machine. Check with the dealer. New machines under $250.00 are very lightweight and have more plastic. They tend to knock out of time easier and quicker. Some dealers won't fix them and refer to them as throw away "box store" Sewing Machines. Hope this helps
