Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

I bought a Brooks Brothers long sleeve XL men's shirt from a thrift store and recycled it into a sleeveless blouse. I loved the fabric and knew I could use it to make something for myself. My inspiration came from one of our members, Jenny Wilding Cardon. Her book, ReSew-Turn Thrift-store Finds Into Fabulous Designs helped me think outside the box!

I never got your email this week but I'm so glad I came across your latest design. I agree with Carol--smart darts. Very summery, very clever, very fun! Can't wait to see your next refashion--you are going to do more, right? :) And thanks for the kind words about the book!

What a beautiful blouse you've made!  Love the pink and the emblem that remained.  I tried last weeks "re-do" of a men's shirt and had lousy results.  I'll have to look for the ReSew-Turn Thrift store Finds into Fabulous Designs book, which obviously added the much needed darts instead of gathers!  Thanks for posting! - everyone!  :0)
