Tana............I liked this one too.  I think I start to sew with the color first.  I typically bring out fabrics and hang them together on a hanger or hangers...........looking at them for awhile, maybe mixing them up a bit, or finding something else that goes with it better, etc.  But, this one just went together pretty easy. 

 

And, you're right, this is a very beginner type project.  Escape sewing for me, but great samples to take to beginning sewing classes!

what a great skirt!  Lots of things on here are so beginnerish but yours has good colors and is a sweet combination.
