I had seen sweatshirts remade into designer jackets at the Houston quilt show.  The booth was Londa's Creative Threads.  I bought the supplies there to make my first one.  Then designed to design my own.  So the base of the jacket is a cotton sweatshirt.  You can use any jacket pattern that you know fits as a guideline then be creative with different fabrics, trims and buttons.  Google Londa's Creative Threads for her website.
