Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

Lane is the most diabolical and the smallest in our family so it's only fitting that she gets to be Plankton from Sponge Bob. Here's what I've got so far.

(P.S. I'm making Logan into Squidward. Wish me luck!)

I will be putting a blog post up on how I made both costumes sometime this week. I am finishing up Plankton tonight, so that one should be up tonight or tomorrow.

I still have the blue top and brown shirt to make for Squidward, so that one won't be up until next week sometime. You can follow along with the progress on my fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/tawnybeefanpage?ref=mf

Basically it's a lot of gluing and winging it. I just looked in my son's Sponge Bob books and kinda figured it out as I went along. I used cardboard for stabilization in the Squidward hat. Then fleece for the face, nose, and bulbous head - then stuffed at the top, and eyes, forehead stuff glued on. The mouth is cardboard covered with fleece and felt.

Plankton is basically a hat pattern with a larger crown, stuffed and the eye glued and antennae glued on.

I'll outline it better in the blog posts (with pictures). :)

So how did you make this? Also how did you make the squidward costume? My daughters are dressing up as plankton and we have a friend who is being squidward , but we are having a hard time figuring out how to make the costumes. Now since we only have 2 weeks until halloween, I am getting worried.
Hope you can help me.
Thanks~~Tina

PS- if you have any pics that would be awesome
