Sew, What's New?

Curating sewing and quilting talent, techniques, and tutorials, since 1997.

I have tons of felt scraps so when I saw this black mesh placemat for $1 at dollar store I appliqued this pumpkin silverware pocket. Blanket stitched pumpkin in colors of Kreinik Metallic Threads.

I would spot clean it. I used a plastic mesh placemat. If you used an all-fabric placemat you should still be able to launder it. The metallic thread is hand and machine washable.

I love this, too! Would this be difficult to launder? Any tips?

"Sew" easy to do when you find placemats at discount stores (I like placemats for dressing up the table for any meal). Could use any motif - like stocking, christmas tree, heart. I like the metallic thread for the blanket stitch because it's just a little bit more special, more eye catching, colorful, etc than a cotton floss or pearl cotton.

Darling! I love the utensil pockets you created on your placemats!
