I think I got instructions for cutting off the jeans on the internet. It is important to position the waistband evenly so the back is cut right and sometimes you have to flatten the area below the zipper by taking out the stitching and resewing the seam. On some jeans the back pockets are quite low so I actually sew through the lower part of them when I add the next layer of fabric. I don't like the jeans part too long. Ruins the proportions.

There is not a tutoral that I know of for this but it is soooo easy. I have been sewing go so many years I only needed a picture. There are some advantages to being old.
