The first quilt top I made.

I saw this great pattern at Joann's and thought how cool it would be to teach myself quilting by beginning with this. I did not even realize all the techniques I would be delving into! Fortunately for me, the pattern was written extremely well. I still have to get to the quilting of it. I am practicing that skill on smaller projects first!

Thanks for the nice comment Tana!  I had some intermediate sewing skills.  I had taken a little class on basic piecing skills at Hancock's Fabric a few years previously - a block of the month thing for beginners - and didn't finish.  Several years after I gave it another whirl and went at my own pace.  As I said the pattern was excellent with its directions.
