Thank you for sharing this video.....wanted to make dresses for my girls but i didn't know how to get the elastic in the fabric like that.....definitely goin to try this as soon as i can

I've always wondered how much extra width to add to the fabric if you plan to shirr it?   For example if I make a girls bodice to fit a 23" chest, how many inches do I add to that?  Doesn't the shirring "decrease" the width?  Would I cut the bodice larger to fit a 25"chest and then shirr it down to fit a 23" chest?
