I think the panel is more of a screen print but I fell in love with it and never really knew what to do with it. One day, I was looking through a quilt book (can't remember the quilters name) and saw this almost exact quilt that she had made. It inspired me to make mine using the similar units. I also tried to go from darks at the bottom to lighter on top to indicate the "depth" of the water. I just gathered up alot of my blue fabrics and threw a few reds and oranges in it to break up the monotony. Thought I should post some pictures of what I have accomplished so folks wouldn't think I was talking out my butt and really knew nothing about quilting!!!
I wish I could see this in person. I don't understand batik....did you create the fish yourself?? I think if I had to organize this uilt it would take me a year just to think it through! I'd love to see a blog post on how you decide hwo to organize your fabrics for things like this.
