Ah yes. We use something very similar when working with canvas, but only to keep everything absolutely accurate. We don't remove it later though. It acts as a seam sealant. I always find it interesting when similar tools and methods are used in vastly different sewing projects. Coolio! Thank-you for posting!

Hiya Susan, I know what you mean about slippery fabric, my pet hate is chiffon!!

I find double-sided dressmakers tape very useful to keep things in place when sewing. It can be easily removed afterwards.

You are a better seamstress than I am because I HATE sewing slippery fabric.  HATE IT.  I'd rather crawl over broken glass...
