Beginner Sewing Classes For Children And Teens

I am in the process of developing a mini-camp program for Beginner and Basic Sewing classes for children and teens with our local Recreation Dept Leisure Services during the summer. It will be divided into two separate groups, ages 7 - 11 in one and 12 & up in another. I know I will need to keep it simple especially for the younger group. New Year's Resolutions

So far I have only 3 New Year's resolutions.
1. Get myself organizes...AGAIN!!!
2. Lose weight.
3. Spend more time sewing.
Maybe I'll leave it at that. I should be able to accomplish that in one year. Any one else have a list started yet? Oh, and 1 more. Finish projects that I start.

The Snow is Gone

The snow is gone. It melted away by Thursday evening. Now the ground is just a wet soggy mess. It is about 65 degrees and a typical Southern La fall day. My son has a final in Hammond so we are on our way out the door. It will be all afternoon at the sewing machine to work on Christmas gifts. I guess supper will be whatever leftovers are in the fridge... Write again soon...
Snow in New Orleans

It is snowing here in the New Orleans, LA area. It's the first time since Christmas Day 2004. I had to go and pick up my daughter from school because they decided to close all the schools. This area does not know how to function in snow. Nobody knows how to drive in it or do anything else apparently. I suppose I'll be spending the rest of the day with my sewing machine working on Christmas gifts. Ha! It looks like the sun is coming out.

Susan said… I guess we have more in common then just sewing my husband also had a stroke in 2007, he also had throat cancer and beat that too. What guild do you belong to. I have friends who belong to the quilting guilds in New Orleans. Hope all is well with your husband. Keep in touch

- Hi Alexia, I live in Kentwood since the storm but I use to live in St Bernard Parish. I sew with a group of people from the Southshore. Do you work? I have a group of ladies who come up to sew with me in my sewing room twice a month and I also have an embroidery club once a month. We'll have to get together some time. Jeanie said… - Hi Alexia. I was in LA when it snowed in Dec. I was at my sister-in-law's in Vinton down by hwy 10 just a stones throw from TX. We had gone down to spend the holidays in Katy, TX with our children and grandchildren. I bought my daughter a new cheap Singer machine a couple of years ago so i wouldn't have to lug my machine down there every time we went so I made pajama pants for all the grandkids for Christmas! They were all made from fleece so good timing since it has been so cold down there. I have not been able to sew at home for awhile. It is a very long story about hubby retireing and moving back to our old house in NV and old plugs. But soon hopefully!

Patti said… - Happy Sunday! Thought I would give the pattern info for the toille dress - it's Butterick 3772. My little toille dress is 12 months. The pattern comes in size 1,2,3 together and size 4,5,6 together. The pattern doesn't call for lining but I added that and the peek-a-boo hemming. Hope you enjoy!
