Heirloom quality, vintage-inspired clothing at www.ReinVintage.ning.com

Hello, my name is Alison and I have a passion for all kinds of fabrics and a love of Vintage Clothing. I've been sewing since I was 10 years old...just quilt blocks at first...but I knew as I carefully guided the fuzzy wool blocks under the needle of our Pfaff that I had found an important niche in my life. After mastering quilt blocks:) I continually sought the challenge of more difficult sewing projects until my growing passion brought me to earn a B.S. in Apparel Design in 1988. I also volunteered at our Theater on campus and thoroughly enjoyed designing and constructing costumes for plays such as "Major Barbara," "A Month in the Country" and "Grease."

Beyond my near-obsession with obtaining beautiful fabrics, I've been known to collect dvd's just for the costumes used in the movies. Some of my favorites are Deborah Scott's designs in "Titanic" and almost anything by Sandy Powell, especially in "Gangs of New York." I've also purchased many vintage patterns over the years from thrift stores and during $1.00/pattern sales at local fabric stores (for inspiration and to use as a basic for my designs). My rationale has always been "this is an investment" and now I see that thought coming to fruition with my business~ReinVintage~Vintage-inspired, Heirloom Quality Clothing

I do like modern clothing designs, as well and I incorporate a bit of the present-day in some of my Vintage clothing designs. I find that these styles bridge the years between the fashion eras and make the design more relevant in a modern context. Ralph Lauren is my favorite designer of RTW, maybe because he adds a flavor in many of his designs that echo the beauty of retro fashions.

I'm grateful for the economic conditions occurring in the High-Tech Industry where I was formerly employed. They brought me to the conclusion that it is best to work for oneself...and now I do.
