I think the "little" embroidery machines are great for beginners and those who don't know it they will (or will not) enjoy machine embroidery.  I have a Babylock ellure and have had it for several years and I REALLY ENJOY it!  The Brother is a cousin to Babylock so I think it would be a fairly easy transition to a Babylock machine.  You would definitely enjoy being able to use bigger patterns.  Even on mine, I cannot do the jumbo patterns requiring the largest hoop.  So buy as big as you can! especially if it is the jumbo patterns you have in mind to use on your next projects :)

Thanks Betty for the lovely compliments. I have been sewing off and on for the past 36 years. I work as a cafeteria manager and when I come home it calms me and keeps me sane....to an extent..:o)
