Have loved sewing and crafting since I was about 5 years old. Started with a pink "Barbie" metal battery operated sewing machine, which I used to make, my poor old Barbies' cousin [didn't ever have a Barbie whaaaa!] bedding and rather strange fitting clothes.
By Jr. High I was redesigning the patterns I was using and by High School I was creating my own outfits without patterns. One very cool outfit came from my cousins' bedroom curtains and black velvet trim. I had a very "ethnic, goth" sort of look going before I even knew one existed! haha. I made my own wedding gown for a mere $68.00 which looked like it was worth hundreds. Very sweet.
Now at 49, and having been off work due to permanent disability, I sew for a bit of extra $$ which I sell on Etsy; sewing also for myself and gifts for friends and family. I've become a true "stasher"!!
My sewing interests are:
garment, drapery, doll making, home decor, upholstery, quilting, embroidery
My sewing machine(s):
I have a Singer, with 180 fancy stitches....which of course...I hardly use. Need to force myself, to get into that more.
I am interested in patterns such as:
Butterick, Vogue, and McCall's ; I get a real kick out of the many brands of vintage patterns too.
