"You can also fill a bias strip (for piping) with any twine, string, yarn, or crochet thread. Think about how you will want to clean the finished item. If you use any version of "wire", it could interact with the cleaning fluid or soapy…"

Cheryl Keith replied to the discussion 'Suggestions for pattern layout?' in the group Everything Sewing!
"I believe the substantive difference between a layout that is "with nap" and one that is "without nap" is very simple. Fabrics "with nap" look different when viewed from opposite ends of the length of yardage.…"

"Why are you considering any product other than "pins" for this temporary holding task? Do your pins snag the slippery knitted fabric or fall out? Maybe you need ball-point pins (specficially for knits) to go with the ball-point sewing…"

Profile Information

I am an awesome:
I've been sewing for over 45 years. To fund my sewing adventures, I used my "allowance" from doing washing and ironing for my grandparents. (And, since there was very little allowance, it meant I didn't take up cigarettes like EVERYONE else in my family did.) I say it is my "mental wellness" activity of choice -- better than pills, alcohol, or psychiatric couches!
My sewing interests are:
garment, quilting
My sewing machine(s):
I have two sergers and an old Memory Craft sewing machine. I salivate over the prospect of owning a fancy embroidery machine.
I am interested in patterns such as:
I like ALL kinds of patterns -- even the ones from designers who self-publsh in very small quantities.
