She explained this very nicely. A Hong Kong seam finish makes an unlined garment look so very professional. I find using silk creates less bulk, but using bias tape or silk makes for a beautifully finished garment.
In 1863, Ebeneezer Butterick changed the face of home sewing forever by creating the first graded sewing pattern. Over 130 years later, the company he founded continues to lead the way in make-it-yourself fashions.

I love this technique. Is there a certain level of embroidery machine that will do this kind of work? I have a Brother Pacesetter UST 20001. I quilted a small quilt with it but it was a fight to keep the quilt in the hoop. Does the book go over…
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. I am married to a wonderful guy who has put up with my sewing habbit for 32 years. We share our home with two miniature daschunds, Maggie and Rosie. Rosie sews with me all the time. She has acquired some cute little doggie capes, costumes and cushy pillows over the years.
What type of sewing do you enjoy?
garment, home decor, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery
What type(s) of sewing machine(s) do you have?
I have a Pfaff 7570, a Brother Pacesetter and a Babylock Evolve serger.
What brands of patterns have you tried?
I don't have a preference. I will try most any pattern company. I have gotten badly written and designed patterns from many companies. Mistakes happen occasionally. So if I see something I want to try, I will always purchase the pattern and give it a whirl. Many of the independent pattern companyies have great unique ideas. I love looking through their lines and trying out their unique directions.
