Another very nice technique, a tiny bit harder, but eliminates the hand stitching of the little miter folds, is this one :
http://www.animas.com/free.html Take a look at the first free video on that page. She is using a tool for marking her stitchin…
Hi I'm not sure if I can explain this right but when I'm approaching a corner I sew straight to the edge, cut the thread. fold the next edge and pin and the corner should miter on it's own.. Hope this helps.
Watched my mom sew since I was little. She was self-taught and could sew anything. She sewed for me through my teens. She learned how to tailor and would let me prep, pin and cut patterns.
Myself, I make Ancient Egyptian costumes, very simple stuff, cloaks, skirts and tunics. I was talked into getting a serger along with my sewing machine. I've serged some napkings and a table cloth.
My self, I want to learn how to better fit, sew and wear shirts, jackets, pants and coats for myself. And, do some sewing for my apartment.
What type of sewing do you enjoy?
garment, drapery, home decor
What type(s) of sewing machine(s) do you have?
I have a Pfaff Stretch n' Jeans machine. I have a Brother serger, which I have not used very much at all, but would like to become more comfortable with.
What brand of patterns do you prefer?
I know this sounds silly, but I think I would actually do better at making my own patterns. I know that preprinted patterns confuse me, with sizing and ease. I've gotten frustrated with them.
Dennis, welcome! patternreview.com has basic on line classes on anything from basic sewing to fitting and little special 'classes'. I have actually found things free on line like how to make a throw pillow and bed skirts. Sewing is my passion so I have started a sewing business. zippers, hems and mending. Some creative ideas I will market and I want to make use of my Baby Lock Embroidery Professional. All this so I can follow my passion! I do love to quilt, though.
