I have two Janome sewing machines. I have sewn on several brands through the years that I have been sewing and can honestly say my Janomes have really performed better than the others. I have the 5700 model and the 6500P model. My…
I am right there with this affliction. I have been told by my hubby that if I bring in one more thing; I have to find somewhere else to live. However I did find a great buy on a bolt of camo corduroy and could not pass it up. I am…
Hi Robbie, I haven't heard from you and intended to wait until I ahd so not to bother you, but I just had to let you know I finally got those curtains done and I still have hair. It was certainly a learning experience - …
Oh the snow, we are down to an inch or so on the ground, but it is snowing now! My mom was an amazing crafter, but her love was silk flower arranging. I didn't pay much attention when I was younger, (sadly she passed), so most of what I do is…
Hi Robbie, I hope you had a plesant weekend. Mine was pretty good. The roads cleared up so we got to go to church Sunday. We have missed the last two Sundays I think. My week always seems to go better if I begin my week…
Yes, I am an early riser! I retired early, so I have alot of time on my hands. I don't sew clothing or anything like that. I wish I could learn, but patterns and I don't get along! So, I stick to simple things. I also dabble in…

Trying to finish a set of lined curtains for a local college
Morning, Mercy you get up early. I used to and after I worked third shift for a while, I got my sleep pattern turned around. Now it's hard for me to get to sleep at night and takes me forever to wake up in the morning. What…
I have been sewing for about 35 years. I sew mainly for my family and friends. Sewing for me is fun and it gives me a chance to be creative. It is also a stress reliever for me. My husband (of 41yrs.) and I have three children who are grown. We have been very blessed with six grandchildren, ages range from 20 yrs old to 9 yrs old.
What type of sewing do you enjoy?
garment, embroidery
What type(s) of sewing machine(s) do you have?
I have a Janome 5700, Janome 6500, and a vintage Phaff that is portable if you can lift it. The darn thing is really heavy. I also have a Brother that I have had for at least 23 yrs. I have a Simplicity serger.
What brands of patterns have you tried?
I use Simpilcity and McCalls mostly because that is what I find at the local thrift stores. The closest fabric and notions store is 65 miles away one way. But lately I have been ordering some of the Sewing Workshop patterns from Waechter's fine Fabrics online. I have ordered a few other independent patterns as well.
Oh the snow, we are down to an inch or so on the ground, but it is snowing now! My mom was an amazing crafter, but her love was silk flower arranging. I didn't pay much attention when I was younger, (sadly she passed), so most of what I do is from memory. I wish she was here to direct me, but sometimes it feels like she is guiding my hands! That sounds totally ridiculous, but it is more a comfort thing I think. Well, I must keep moving, you know how it is I'm sure. Take care and blessings to you!

So, I stick to simple things. I also dabble in floral arranging and blankets, pillows, curtains and such. I know what you mean about finishing a big project. Many times I have thought I will never do this again! It's nice to hear from you!
Hello Derenda,
I am so sorry that I have not responded back to you. I have had a lot on my plate lately and I forgot that you had emailed me.
A little about myself, i am 48 years old and sewing is a passion of mine whenever I can sit down to enjoy it. I have two children, my son and his wife, and my 15 year old daughter. I live here in a small northern town in upper Idaho that I moved to 6 months ago and I love the awesome scenery that I wake up too. It is far better then living in Oklahoma that is for sure. I didn't start using an embroidery machine until around 2000 and ever since then I really enjoy the things that I can do on it, especially lace making. I have been sewing since I was in Junior High and like I said it is a passion of mine. If you have any questions for me, I would be more then happy to answer them. thank you so much for contacting me. Maria
