This is an awesome project! I can't wait to pass it on and make some myself, a great cause. Well done, there should be more programs like this! :)

What type of sewing do you enjoy?
garment, drapery, home decor, upholstery, quilting, industrial, marine
What type(s) of sewing machine(s) do you have?
  • Kenmore 10
  • Kenmore 14
  • Elna
  • White Vintage
  • Singer Vintage (okay, I admit, I have three of them, it's an inherited hoarding problem)
  • Singer 188u Industrial
  • Taurus Industrial aka "The Beast"
  • {I'd really like a Pfaff or a Bernina Industrial...}
What brands of patterns have you tried?
Most, but I don't use them. Not a "pattern" person. I'm not much of a big garment sewer right now. I hate the tissue paper patterns. :)

I'm interested in patterning. I'm really getting into the printable PDF epatterns that I'm finding online. That's the way to go in my opinion! There are some super-talented people out there yet to be discovered. I'll share my finds with you whenever I can! I'm big on supporting independent artisans and small business.

Susan, I wanted to give you one of the credited gifts but I had used up my 75 cents and had no idea how to get more or where buy more. But I want to thank you for all that you do.

Thanks for inviting me as a friend. I joined the half yard swap and can't wait for my fabric to come in. I sent mine off today. Hope the swap continues for a very long time.

Hi, Susan

I just signed up to enter blogs.  I'm not really sure how all of this works, but I think you are the first friend i have so far.  I'm trying to figure out how to post a question on tote bags.

can you give me some clues how to do this?  Here is my quest:

I'm looking for a pattern to make a fabric (100% cotton) flat bottomed gift bag that meastures approx. 10 to 11 in. high and 8 to 9 inches wide with a 4" bottom.

do you have a pattern like this?

You're right Susan.  I've had to try this project on about a thousand times.  I have the straight-pin marks to prove it!  :)  I'm such a gluton for punishment too....I'm starting another dress after this project is complete.  Thanks for the encouragement!  You're awesome!

Good morning Susan.  It's a cotton/rayon blend.  It hangs really nicely.  I, however, am not a good clothes maker.  Im hoping to post of pic (if it's worthy).

I updated the pattern for my catch-all bag, but with blogger acting up yesterday, it reverted back to the old pattern.  I just wanted to give you the update.  Here is the Updated Pattern.  Thank you so much for sharing the tutorial!  This site is WONDERFUL!!!

You're welcome Susan.  I feel guilty taking up some much room on the front page, but I love welcoming members.  I've been so busy lately, that I was way, way, way behind.

Congratulations Auntie!  Hope mom and babe are both doing well.  It is amazing how well these "early" babies do...my granddaughter was born at 27 weeks, 2 lb 1 oz.  She will be 2 in April and aside from being small, she is right on target developmentally and is smart as anything.  She is a daily reminder of miracles in action!  Congrats again and thanks for this wonderful site. : )

Happy Birthday to your son Susan AND happy birthday to you.  I always take joy in celebrating with my children considering I was the one who went through most of the pain getting them here!  :)
