I agree with Bunny, try a walking foot (even feed foot) as it will help keep the two layers together. Another suggestion would be to use Wonder Tape (I think it's called). It's 1/4" double sided tape. Quilter's sometimes use it to keep their point...
WOW...love the ability to do free motion couching with this foot. I have a Janome...and a beading foot. I'll going to see if I can figure out a way to do something like this on my Janome....

Yes I've done lots of free motion with the same machine, not on a frame though -that's the only difference. I had to adjust teh tension while fre motin quilting on a table top with this machine, but did not have a problem. It's only been since I've tried to quilt on the frame. Very bizarre.
