"I have two dress patterns that I like very much, but I have out-grown them.  I will be using the fronts and side pieces to make aprons for my front.  Thanks for the idea from your "pure" repurposed dresses,  Cordially, Nehmah"

Aprons from old dresses

Here's two aprons that were cut from old sun dresses--it's a fun way to repuropose a cute but no longer wearable dress.

Profile Information

I am an awesome:
I love everything fabric / fashion / and vintage. I have sewn all my life, and still find time to make something fun every month or so. To share my passion, I have a blog and I sell vintage patterns, books, & fabric, as well as fashion online. I have also taught sewing at all skill levels, from home sewing to costume making. But I'm not all about sewing, so if it's sunny, I'm probably outside working in the garden, or in the kitchen cooking up a pot of soup if the weather is gray. At the end of the day, it's a good movie on the couch with a kitty on the lap quilt for me!
My sewing interests are:
garment, upholstery
My sewing machine(s):
#1- mid-1970's Pfaff, my daily work horse
+ a cheap-o Brother for toting around and loaning out
+ some ancient cuties that only do straight stitches
+ a NEW Brother serger (the others died all at the same time, so the new one is my baby)
I am interested in patterns such as:
I draft most of mine, but will use a new or vintage pattern if I think it will save me time--any brand will do if the pattern design looks like what I want.

I'm getting ready to mend some aprons and sew up some 'new' ones that I have re-styled from a few dresses.  I use the dress front as the apron, and… Continue
